Sand casting is a widely used form of casting, which is to make a mold with sand. Sand casting requires placing a finished part model or a wooden model (pattern) in the sand, then filling the area around the pattern with sand, and then taking out the pattern from the box to form a mold.

Designed for harsh chemical and mechanical environments, our High-Toughness Corrosion-Resistant Sand Casting Parts Series 5 offers a unique combination of fracture toughness and chemical inertness, ideal for components exposed to both corrosive media and dynamic loads. Cast from duplex stainless steel (ASTM A890 Grade 5A) and nickel-copper alloy (ASTM B127 Monel 400), these parts feature a ferrite-austenite microstructure and pass 2000h H2S testing, setting the standard for oil & gas, marine, and chemical processing applications.

Dual-Phase Material Advantage

Duplex Stainless Steel (2205):

Yield strength 550MPa, elongation 25%, and PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) 40+, resisting chloride-induced pitting (ASTM G48 Method A, 24h at 6% FeCl3).

Monel 400:

Excellent resistance to hydrofluoric acid and seawater, with tensile strength 650MPa and impact toughness 80J/cm² (ASTM B127).


Casting Process Control

Low-Sulfur Molding Sand: Sulfur content ≤0.01% in mold materials, preventing hot cracking in nickel-based alloys (ASTM B164 compliance).

Post-Casting Heat Treatment: Solution annealing for duplex steel (1050°C, 1h) and stress relieving for Monel (595°C, 2h), optimizing corrosion and fatigue resistance.


Environmental Durability

H2S Resistance: Compliant with NACE MR0175 (SSC, HIC testing), suitable for sour gas environments (H2S partial pressure ≤3.5MPa).

Temperature Range: -196°C to 400°C, maintaining 90% toughness at cryogenic temperatures (ideal for LNG processing).


Surface & Design Features

Smooth Surface Finish: As-cast Ra ≤12.5μm, with optional electropolishing (Ra ≤0.5μm) to remove casting marks and enhance corrosion resistance.

Complex Design Support: Internal channels and thin walls (≥5mm) for heat exchanger components, validated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.

Subsea pipeline valves, wellhead components, and Christmas tree parts, compliant with API 6A and ISO 13679 (NACE MR0175 Level II).
